Frequently Asked Questions

How is Ghz Broadband able to offer this service?

Through various associations and relationships with equipment vendors - we are able to purchase wholesale minutes on the nation wide national carrier networks.

Is this your own cellular network?

No.  In fact, the networks we have access to have been around for a very long time.  The primary network we activate on has been very active in Cullman since they purchased Cellular One in 2001.  The other network we can activate on just added a new cell tower about every two miles.

This is too good to be true - prove it to me!

We can potentially activate phones for a very short time ; something like 20 minutes of talk time, for no charge.  We also have phones available for demonstration.

What happens if I forget to pay my bill?

Well - since this is not our network - since we purchase minutes on other networks we do not own - the service has absolutely no grace period.  If you forget to pay your bill, the service will shut off automatically one month from the day you activate service with us.  There is no contract, so if you pay your bill, we can turn you right back on.

What kind of coverage should I expect?

If you have service currently with either company described above, service with us will be identical.  You will simply get your bill from us instead of them - and you will save quite a bit of money.

Why is there no phone pricing on your website?

Technology changes so quickly, it's next to impossible to keep up with what the latest and greatest product is.  Even better, this service allows you to activate any old phone laying around your house in a drawer or a friend's old phone that is no longer active.  You can purchase a phone from Ebay as long as it was once on those two networks, and that phone can be activated on our network, assuming it is not lost, stolen, still under contract with another carrier, etc.

We do plan to carry a small stock of available phones, but we expect we will be the liason between customer and service provider in assisting new GHz Cellular customers in aquiring phones from Ebay or from friends.

Can I bring my phone number over from my existing carrier?

Yes, our agreement supports being able to "port" a phone number over from another carrier.  There is a $25 fee for this, and that fee is refundable via rebate in some cases.

Can I activate any device on your network?

No. The phone must be a device that was formerly active on either of the two networks mentioned above - anywhere in the country. Pre-paid phones from either of those networks are not supported, nor are most prepaid phone models. (they work on a different system / channel than these phones work on).

The phone must not be lost, stolen, de-activated by a carrier, or "blacklisted" by a carrier.

The phone also should not be under contract with a carrier, although we believe we can activate those phones - you will likely be responsible for early termination penalties from other said carriers if you activate a phone still under contract.

We have been told the I-phone is officially not supported ; although we have been able to activate the I-phone. It's a 50/50 chance, basically, and we're told even if it can be activated, there is no guarantee it will not be shut off at any time.  Since you're not under a contract, you do not have much to lose. :)

Your sign up form requires the ESN of my phone.  How do I find that?

Google can help you with that -
